Something in Norwegian (via Danish and a bit of English)

Ok, I'm really crap at this blogging thing. Anyways, here's a song that has been all over the airwaves in Norway this summer. It's the debut single of RnB wannabe Sichelle. I was almost in shock the first time I heard it, not because it's called Fuck deg - translate that yourself ;) -but because it was something reasonably credible within its genre and sung in Norwegian. Actually it took me half the first listen to twig it was Norwegian and not Swedish. Well, it was early in the morning and I figured something that good had to be Swedish.

Anyway, it transpired that the song was, of course, not a Norwegian original. It was a hit a couple of years ago for Danish singer Anna David. And I was not surprised to discover that the Danish original was better. Somehow English swear words fit more naturally into Danish :o)

Summer moved on

Before the musical autumn gets into full swing, it seems like it would be a good idea to have a look at some of the stuff that has been competing for attention with Rihanna and her wet weather protection in the last few months. Starting with a trio of Swedes.

Bearing in mind the date, it seems like a good idea to start with September, a singer known for her super catchy and danceable tunes. This is Can't Get Over.

Here's something not quite so obviously commercial, but none the less it was a huge hit. Dunka mig gul och blÄ was the debut single of Frida, no not her from Abba, but a 25-year-old from the south of Sweden.

And finally back to the super-commercial. Former Swedish Idol contestant Danny Saucedo's follow up to the equally annoyingly catchy Tokyo, Play It For The Girls. A future at Eurovision beckons, I'm sure.
